About Us

20745969_841500281370_6166770635609383985_o.jpg

After 47+ years of boating with my lovely wife, Deborah, and owning about 19 boats, half power and half sail....I have several businesses related to my avocation, boating. In 2006 I started WORDboats.com selling boats and trailers and later specialing in only boat trailers. In 2016 I started PontoonWest.com to sell pontoons and kits for people to build work boats and docks and TinyHouseBoats.net In 2012 I became a Yacht Broker starting WORD Yachts and I became a Certified Professional Yacht Broker in 2014. See EcoCruisers.net for my idea of the most economical trailerable power cruiser..

We have cruised over 4,000 miles and have trailered over 40,000 miles [see Sea the Sounds for our 2,000 mile trip on the Great Loop]. Asked to speak on 7 topics [2 each year] including trailering at the Seattle Boat Show, 2010-present ---   [powerpoints are on the download link]. I have my Coast Guard Captain's License to operate commercial 50 ton inspected vessels AND uninspected vessels up to 100 tons with <=6 passengers, enabling me to teach people to sail & bareboat charter and also to deliver yachts to boat shows or after purchase or seasonal movements. I am also certified with the ASA at the 201-205,215 to teach sailing with the following classes: 101 Basic Keelboating, 103 Cruising, 104 Bareboat Chartering, 05 Navigation, and 214 docking. In the spring-fall I teach sailing at PSSI. Also taught Geology at UW Tacoma in 2011-12. I retired from 34+ years of water research at USGS in 2010.

I have bought and sold 100+ boats in the last 8+ years and 600+ new trailers since 2008, currently over 100/year. I have fit many dozens of boats to Venture trailers. I have hired 250,000+ miles of towing of 100+ loaded stacks of 6 Venture Trailers from Baltimore or Chicago to Tacoma over the last 10 years.  I've also hired about 50k miles of towing of 30 used boats. In all that towing we have had a few problems. I have launched over 150 different trailerable boats in my used boat business by myself. I don't think many people can say they have more experience towing boat trailers than I do. I have witnessed or paid for nearly every problem that can happen to a trailer.

We sell NEW Venture Aluminum Boat Trailers. They have 600 dealers in the east, but I am their only dealer west of MN. They look great, even better than galvanized, [and ALWAYS will] and work well with Disc brakes, Poly-sleeved bunks, and LED lights, 2-speed winch, etc. I have also customized one model to fit Macgregor 26X or 26M boats. Sold many to Canadians, but also to Australia, and Russia.

We also sell Karavan, Tuff, Kokopelli and Genesis boat trailers in smaller sizes and unique categories of boat trailers.

I have sold over 30 boats to & from 13+ states, plus Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Cambodia, Africa, Argentina, and the Phillipines.

Due to my low overhead, you get for sale by owner prices, with Dealer Professionalism and Confidence.

NEW 2020 Aluminum Boat Trailers

See my trailering bio and customer testimonials at the bottom and left side link to download Seattle Boat Show presentation PowerPoints.

Why Aluminum? They are the best once you know the details.

Aluminum are the most common boat trailer in the east but not yet common in the west, so I need to explain WHY to west coast boaters.

We discovered this on a 2,000 mile east coast boat trip in 2007 from WA DC to Green Bay WI, the north 1/3 of greatloop.com

  • Now can be the same price or lower than galvanized with similar options on West coast!
  • Look great and will keep looking great longer.
  • Low maintenance, no rust, no need to paint or repaint. Will not even chip off and rust like galvanized.
  • Makes selling your boat with trailer easier to any location --- fresh or saltwater area.
  • Lighter, One-third less weight to pull down the highway = fuel savings
  • In today's economy, it is a better choice now and especially in your future for your hard earned dollars.

Models in stock -- all I carry are aluminum I-beam frame & wheels & fenders, disk brakes, LED lights, Poly sleeved bunks, 2 speed winch, load guides and target bunks [after 150 boats towed and 40k miles covered towing, what I would want]:

Bolts are RIE coated - better than galvanized see link Axle bearings are super-lube hubs drilled out so the grease nipple inserts grease in the center, lubrication out from the insdie to both inner and outer bearings.

No price changes at this time for 2020 models! See models under the NEW TRAILERS tab above!

Get your orders in now. Price increases from Venture coming soon.
